The Show Recon Labeling System

One Label Shouldn't Do Every Job.

Permanent asset identification, temporary show information and rapid visual organization have different requirements. Show Recon gives each one the right label.

Show Recon is not affiliated with Brother. This is our recommended printer for the workflow.

Three Labels. Three Different Jobs.

Each layer of the architecture is produced differently, lasts a different amount of time and answers a different question on the loading dock.

Identify

Every item gets a permanent identity.

Use the Brother PT-P950NW with laminated P-touch tape for permanent asset identification. Show Recon generates a properly sized, print-ready PDF containing the item name, asset ID and scannable QR code. The user downloads the PDF and prints it through the normal computer printing workflow. No direct or proprietary Show Recon printer integration is required.

  • Laminated for long-term equipment identification
  • Sharp, high-contrast QR codes
  • Multiple available tape widths
  • Resistant to normal production handling
  • Easy black-and-white consumables
  • Normal PDF printing workflow
  • No specialized color printer required for each asset

Deploy

Give every case a job for the next show.

A compatible color label printer handles larger, semi-temporary case labels created for a particular show, short tour, truck pack or deployment. These labels can be replaced whenever the case's assignment changes without replacing its permanent asset identity.

Example information
  • Show or tour name
  • Case contents
  • Truck and pack position
  • Destination, stage or room
  • Department
  • Setup order
  • Special handling instructions
  • Return destination

Change the assignment — not the asset identity.

These labels are intentionally semi-temporary: operational labels for a show or short tour, not permanent asset tags. Any compatible color label printer works — Show Recon does not recommend a specific model yet.

Organize

Recognize departments and cable lengths at a glance.

After a company configures its departments in Show Recon, it can request matching physical color-sticker rolls. These professionally printed and laminated stickers provide immediate visual organization without requiring the company to purchase or integrate a specialized color printer.

Department stickers must include both color and printed text. The system never relies on color alone.

Cable-Length Rolls

Preprinted cable-length rolls use large text and consistent colors for rapid sorting. Matching labels can be applied near both ends of each cable. Cable length is always printed clearly rather than communicated by color alone.

Why the Architecture Keeps Costs Predictable

Permanent item data is printed locally in durable black and white. Reusable department and cable-length graphics are produced efficiently in bulk. Larger color labels are reserved for cases whose assignments change from one show or tour to the next. This avoids using expensive full-color printing for every permanent inventory label.

Use durable printing where information is permanent. Use color where it creates operational value.

Why Not Use One Color Printer for Everything?

Permanent identity and temporary instructions are fundamentally different. A permanent asset label should be durable, standardized and easy to reproduce anywhere. A show label should be colorful, information-rich and disposable when the deployment ends. Department and cable-length stickers contain predictable information, so they can be manufactured professionally and shipped without adding another printer integration.

Show Recon handles the information architecture. Each physical label only has to perform the job it was designed for.

Questions

Build a Labeling System That Matches How Production Actually Moves.

Identify every asset permanently. Organize departments visually. Label cases for the show in front of you. Change one layer without rebuilding the others.
